Turkey's industrial production growth accelerated unexpectedly at the end of the year, figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Monday.
Industrial production rose a calendar-adjusted 4.5 percent year-over-year in December, faster than the 3.6 percent climb in the previous month.
Economists had expected a stable rate of growth for the month. Production has been rising since February 2015.
Production in the manufacturing sector grew 4.4 percent annually in December and utility sector output advanced by 7.7 percent. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying production contracted by 2.1 percent.
On a monthly basis, industrial production rose a seasonally and calendar adjusted 0.8 percent in December, reversing a 0.8 percent fall in November.
