The Philippines' exports continued to decline in February, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported Tuesday.
Exports decreased more-than-expected 4.5 percent year-on-year in February, slower than the 3.9 percent decline seen in January.
Shipments were forecast to drop 3.2 percent. This was the eleventh consecutive fall in exports.
The negative figure was attributed to the decreases in five major commodities namely articles of apparel and clothing accessories, chemicals, other manufactures, metal components, and coconut oil.
Exports of electronic products, the country's top shipment component, increased 8.1 percent annually.
During January to February, merchandise exports logged an annual fall of 4.2 percent.
