New Zealand Commodity Prices Fall For Second Month

New Zealand's commodity prices decreased for the second straight month in April, the results of a survey by ANZ showed Wednesday.

The ANZ commodity price index slid 0.8 percent month-over-month in April, slower than the 1.3 percent fall in the preceding month.

Dairy prices continued to fall sharply in April, largely caused by a 5.1 percent decline in butter prices. Non-dairy prices also dropped 0.3 percent, reversing some of the improvement seen over the last two months.

The NZD ANZ commodity price index dipped 2.8 percent over the month, following a 3.0 percent decrease in March.

On an annual basis, the NZD ANZ commodity price index plunged 8.5 percent in April, after a 14.3 percent decline a month earlier.
