New Zealand will on Friday release April figures for credit card spending, highlighting a light day in Asia-Pacific economic activity.
In March, card spending slipped 1.1 percent on month and gained 4.8 percent on year.
Japan will see April data for department and convenience store sales. In March, nationwide department store sales were down 2.9 percent on year, while sales in Tokyo slipped 1.1 percent. Convenience store sales eased 0.1 percent.
Taiwan will provide April numbers for export orders, with forecasts suggesting a decline of 4.5 percent on year following the 4.7 percent drop in March.
Finally, the markets in Thailand are closed on Friday in observance of Wisaha Bucha Day, and will re-open on Monday.
