Malaysia's inflation moderated in April reflecting a slowdown in food and non-food inflation, the Department of Statistics said Friday.
Consumer prices rose 2.1 percent on a yearly basis following a 2.6 percent increase in the prior month.
On a monthly basis, the consumer price index gained 0.4 percent.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices moved up 4.2 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices slid 0.7 percent. Cost of transport eased 5.5 percent and communication dropped 2.1 percent.
At the same time, non-food prices climbed 1.2 percent.
During January to April, consumer prices advanced 3.2 percent from the same period of last year.
