The services sector in Japan swung back to expansion in May, the latest survey from Nikkei showed on Friday with a services PMI score of 50.4.
That's up from 49.3 in April, and it moves back above the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.
Individually, new business growth picked up slightly, while input and output prices were up at slower rates.
Generally speaking, business sentiment on the whole was down.
The composite PMI climbed to 49.2 from 48.9 in the previous month.
