Greece's EU measure of inflation decreased as expected in May, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.
The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, dropped 0.2 percent year-over-year in May, in line with expectations, following a 0.4 percent fall in April. It was the third month of decline in a row.
Housing costs dipped 4.7 percent annually in May and transport costs slid by 1.6 percent. At the same time, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 0.9 percent.
On a monthly basis, the HICP showed no variations in May, after rising 0.7 percent in the prior month.
The consumer price index fell at a slower pace of 0.9 percent yearly in May, following a 1.3 percent drop a month earlier. Prices have been falling since March 2013.
Month-on-month, consumer prices declined 0.4 percent in May, reversing a 0.7 percent climb in April.
