Overall credit card spending in New Zealand was down a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent on month in May, Statistics New Zealand said on Friday.
That follows the downwardly revised 1.3 percent increase in April (originally 1.5 percent).
Retail credit card spending slid 0.3 percent following the downwardly revised 0.8 percent gain (originally 0.9 percent).
Transactions in the core retail industries were down 0.1 percent.
