Singapore retail sales grew more than expected in May, figures from the Department of Statistics revealed Friday.
Retail sales climbed 3 percent year-on-year in May. Economists had forecast annual growth to ease to 1.9 percent from 3.2 percent in April.
Excluding motor vehicle, retail sales dropped 3.3 percent after easing 3.8 percent a month ago. Motor vehicle sales surged 35.9 percent in May.
Month-on-month, retail sales growth improved to 1.4 percent from 0.4 percent in April.
