The manufacturing sector in China slid barely into contraction in July, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Monday with a manufacturing PMI score of 49.9.
That was shy of expectations for 50.0, which would have been unchanged from the June reading.
It also fell beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.
The NBS also said the non-manufacturing PMI came in with a score of 53.9 in July, up from 53.7 in the previous month.
