Greece's EU measure of inflation climbed for the second straight month in July, and at a steady pace, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Monday.
The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 0.2 percent year-over-year in July, the same rate of increase as in the previous month.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 2.3 percent in July from a year ago and health costs went up by 3.4 percent. At the same time, clothing and footwear prices plunged 14.2 percent.
On a monthly basis, the HICP dropped 1.2 percent from June, when it increased by 1.3 percent. It was the first decrease in six months.
At the same time, the consumer price index declined at a faster pace of 1.0 percent annually in July, following a 0.7 percent fall in the preceding month. Prices have been falling since March 2013.
Month-on-month, consumer prices slid 1.6 percent in July, reversing a 0.8 percent rise in the prior month.
