The jobless rate in Japan came in at a seasonally adjusted 3.0 percent in July, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Tuesday.
That beat forecasts for 3.1 percent, which would have been unchanged from the June reading.
The job-to-applicant ratio was 1.37 - unchanged from the previous month although missing forecasts for 1.38.
The participation rate was 60.3 percent.
