Walmart operates better stores with good services in white neighborhoods than in minority neighborhoods, according to a new study.
The study found that stores in lower-income neighborhoods have considerably lower customer service ratings than those in wealthier ones.
The study also claims that the higher the number of black or Latino residents in a place, the worse a Walmart there would rate.
The study published by Andy Reich, a Columbia University Assistant Professor of Sociologyyear was based on Walmart customer satisfaction from data of the 35,000 total Yelp reviews across 2,800 Walmart outlets nationwide.
According the researcher, the one of the reason for the disparity might be because the retail giant generally do not staff stores in low-income neighborhoods adequately as competition are not a big priority in those areas.
