Australia had a seasonally adjusted merchandise trade deficit of A$2.410 billion in July, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.
That beat forecasts for a shortfall of A$2.700 billion following the A$3.195 billion deficit in June.
Exports were up 3.0 percent on month to A$26.425 billion, while imports were roughly flat at A$28.835 billion.
