South Korea Money Supply Growth Accelerates In August

South Korea's money supply growth accelerated in August, after easing in the previous month, preliminary figures from the Bank of Korea showed Tuesday.

M2, a broad measure of money supply rose 7.2 percent year-over-year in August, faster than July's 6.9 percent climb.

On a monthly basis, M2 money supply increased 1.2 percent from July, when it rose by 0.7 percent.

The annual growth in liquidity slowed slightly to 7.7 percent in August from 7.8 percent in the preceding month. At the same time, liquidity of financial institutions grew at a faster pace of 8.0 percent in August after a 7.6 percent hike in July.
