Malaysia's industrial production growth accelerated in August, after easing in the previous month, data from the Department of Statistics showed Wednesday.
Industrial production rose 4.9 percent year-over-year in August, faster than July's 4.1 percent gain.
Production in the manufacturing sector expanded 4.6 percent on year and electricity output surged by 11.4 percent. Mining production also registered a growth of 4.3 percent.
Separately, the statistical office revealed that the manufacturing sales value dropped 0.6 percent in August from a year ago. Total employees engaged in the manufacturing sector rose 0.2 percent and salaries and wages climbed by 6.8 percent.
