Malaysia Jobless Rate Remains Stable In August

Malaysia's unemployment rate held steady in August, figures from the Department of Statistics showed Monday.

The jobless rate came in at 3.5 percent in August, the same rate as in the previous month. In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.2 percent.

The number of unemployed people declined to 515,200 in August from 516,200 in July. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 470,500.

The labor force participation rate also remained unchanged at 67.8 percent in August.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate rose slightly to 3.6 percent in August from 3.5 percent a month earlier.
