India Wholesale Price Inflation At 4-Month Low

India's wholesale price inflation eased in October to the lowest level in four months, figures from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed Tuesday.

The wholesale price index rose 3.39 percent year-over-year in October, slower than September's 3.57 percent climb.

The latest inflation figure was the lowest since June, when it was 2.12 percent. A year go, the inflation rate was 3.70 percent.

Build up inflation rate in the financial year so far was 4.34 percent compared to a build up rate of 0.45 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The wholesale price inflation for primary articles moderated to 3.31 percent in October from 4.76 percent a month ago.

Similarly, prices for food articles increased at a slower rate of 4.34 percent annually in October, following a 5.75 percent climb in the prior month.

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices edged up 0.1 percent at the start of the fourth quarter.
