New Zealand Credit Card Spending Climbs For Second Month

Total credit card spending in New Zealand increased for the second straight month in October, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand said Monday.

Credit card spending rose 2.8 percent month-over-month in October, slower than September's 3.2 percent climb.

Domestic billings grew at a stable pace 2.6 percent monthly to NZ$3.080 billion, while overseas billings remained unchanged.

On an annual basis, credit card spending growth quickened to 10.2 percent in October from 8.5 percent in the preceding month.

Data also showed that credit card balances climbed 0.8 percent from September, when it increased by 0.9 percent. Yearly, credit card balances went up 2.1 percent, following a 0.7 percent rise in the prior month.
