New Zealand Q3 Residential Building Activity Grows

New Zealand's residential building work increased further in the three months ended September, figures from Statistics New Zealand showed Thursday.

The volume of residential building activity climbed a seasonally adjusted 2.7 percent from the second quarter, when it grew by 5.7 percent.

In the first quarter of this year, the rate of growth was 5.6 percent.

The volume trend for residential building work has doubled over the five years since the low point in the September 2011 quarter, the agency said.

At the same time, non-residential building activity remained unchanged during the period. However, overall building activity advanced 1.4 percent.

The actual value of building work topped $5 billion for the first time in the latest quarter, with $3.3 billion of residential work and $1.9 million of non-residential work.
