S. Korea Producer Price Inflation Accelerates In February

South Korea's producer price inflation accelerated in February, preliminary figures from the Bank of Korea showed Monday.

The producer price index climbed 4.2 percent year-over-year in February, faster than the 3.9 percent increase in the previous month. It was the fourth successive monthly rise.

Prices for manufacturing industry products grew 6.9 percent annually in February and those of agricultural, forestry and marine products surged by 7.1 percent. At the same time, the price index for utility products registered a decline of 4.4 percent.

On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.3 percent from January, when it increased by 1.4 percent.

The domestic supply price index rose 4.9 percent in February from a year ago, while it dropped 0.2 percent from the preceding month. Similarly, total output price index climbed 4.3 percent yearly and decreased 0.2 percent monthly in February.
