Greece's unemployment rate held steady at the start of the year, the labor force survey from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Thursday.
The unemployment rate came in at 23.5 percent in January, the same rate as in the previous month. The rate for December was revised up from 23.1 percent.
In the corresponding period of prior year, the jobless rate was 24.3 percent.
The number of unemployed people totaled 1.12 million in January. Unemployment declined by 2,085 from December and by 47,836 from last year.
The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15 to 24 age group, dropped to 48.0 percent in January from 50.9 percent a year earlier.
