South Korea Jobless Rate Falls In May

South Korea's unemployment rate decreased in May, figures from Statistics Korea showed Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted jobless rate dropped to 3.6 percent in May from 4.0 percent in April.

In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.7 percent.

On an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate also fell to 3.6 percent in May from 4.2 percent in the prior month.

The number of unemployed people declined to 1.0 million in May from 1.17 million in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 1.01 million.
