Brazil Industrial Production Grows For Third Month

Brazil's industrial production grew for a third straight month in July, largely led by strong increase in the output of capital goods and consumer products, preliminary data from the statistical office IBGE showed Tuesday.

Industrial production grew an unadjusted 2.5 percent year-on-year following 0.5 percent gain in June and 4.1 percent increase in May.

Capital goods production increased 8.7 percent and consumer goods output rose 4.9 percent, mainly led by an 8.1 percent jump in the manufacture of durables. Intermediate goods output rose 0.6 percent.

Compared to the previous month, production grew a seasonally adjusted 0.8 percent in July, exceeding economists' expectation for 0.5 percent gain.
