BlackBerry Ltd. (BB) is trading 14% higher in the morning trade on Thursday after the company reported a second-quarter loss that managed to beat the Street view.
Net loss reported by the company was $144 million or $0.25 per share, compared to $23 million or $0.04 loss per share in the same quarter last year. On an adjusted basis, the loss per share was $0.06. On average, four analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated the loss to be $0.07 per share for this quarter.
BlackBerry's second-quarter revenues slipped to $175 million from $259 million last year.
The shares are currently trading at $10.88, up $1.31 or 13.76% since the previous close at $9.56 on Tuesday. The shares opened at $10.20 in the morning. In the 52-week period, the shares have ranged between $4.37 and $28.77 per share.
