Sonoco (SON) announced that it has appointed Alan Hutchins has been as division vice president, global operations - Consumer Packaging. The company noted that Hutchins would have responsibility for its global consumer packaging manufacturing operations including interfacing with its newly purchased Matrix Packaging division. He would also be in charge for global productivity, environmental affairs and safety for all Consumer Packaging businesses.
The company stated that Hutchins has worked in various capacities at it for 20 years, formerly as vice president, operations - Rigid Paper and Plastics - North America.
Charles Sullivan, executive vice president, said, "As we work to solidify our new relationship with Matrix Packaging in a way that will maximize growth and allow us to share resources effectively, we need people with unique talents and skills. These staff changes certainly will help us meet that need."
