James Halstead H1 Profit Higher, But Revenue Drops

James Halstead PLC (JHD.L), a distributor of floor coverings, Wednesday reported profit before tax of 27.4 million pounds for the first half, higher than 23.22 million pounds in the same period a year ago.

The increase in profit before tax was helped by higher rates of interest received on cash deposits as well as 13.6 percent growth in operating profit.

Net profit increased to 20.08 million pounds or 4.8p per share from 18.04 million pounds or 4.3p per share last year.

Revenue for the first half, however, declined to 136.45 million pounds from 149.64 million pounds in the previous year.

Additionally, the company's Board has decided to declare a dividend of 2.50p per share, payable on June 14 to shareholders on the register as on May 17.
