Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (SDMHF) Thursday reported net profit of 56 million euros or 0.58 euros per share for the first quarter, significantly lower than 111 million euros or 1.21 euros per share in the same quarter a year ago, primarily due to lower sales revenue.
Excluding one-time items, underlying net profit declined to 84 million euros or 0.86 euros per share, from 131 million euros or 1.43 euros per share last year.
Underling earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization or underlying EBITDA decreased by 13.2 percent to 191 million euros.
Sales revenue for the quarter was 667 million euros, 8.2 percent down from the previous year.
However, Sartorius Stedim Biotech recorded an increase in order intake of 12.5 percent to 676 million euros in the quarter.
Looking ahead, the company has reaffirmed its full-year outlook. It still sees sales revenue to increase in the mid to high single-digit percentage range.
