It is estimated that chronic Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection affects a staggering 254 million individuals worldwide, with substantial numbers reported in the United States (up to 2.4 million) and Europe (10.6 million). The regions with the highest prevalence of chronic HBV infection are East Asia and Africa.
In 2022, approximately 1.1 million people lost their lives due to HBV and its associated complications, such as liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, according to reports.
