Alector Inc. (ALEC), a clinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering immuno-neurology, has a clinical trial catalyst related to its investigational drug AL002 that is worth monitoring in the coming months.

AL002 is an engineered, humanized monoclonal immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) antibody designed to target Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid cells 2 (TREM2). Research suggests that reduction of TREM2 functionality may lead to Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. AL002 is intended to counteract this decreased functionality by improving TREM2 signaling to enhance microglia activity. This compound is being developed in collaboration with AbbVie.
