Michael Jackson Biopic Release Pushed Back To Fall 2025

Lionsgate has announced that it is moving back the previously planned release of a Michael Jackson biopic by six months.

Michael was originally scheduled for release globally on April 18, 2025. The new release date in theaters is set for October 3, 2025.

Antoine Fuqua directs the film that chronicles the life and music of the King of Pop, played by Jackson's nephew Jaafar Jackson.

The film will reportedly begin production on January 22.

Lionsgate is releasing the movie in the U.S., while Universal Pictures has the global rights, except in Japan.

According to the film's official synopsis, "Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop."

"The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale — from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances," it adds. "As never before, audiences will experience an inside look into one of the most influential, trailblazing artists the world has ever known."
