Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize N.V. (ADRND.PK), a retail and wholesale holding company, Wednesday reported income before taxes of 723 million euros for the first quarter, higher than 659 million euros in the same quarter a year ago, primarily helped by growth in revenue.
Operating income increased to 880 million euros from 803 million euros in the prior year.
Excluding one-time items, Underlying operating income was 890 million euros, up from 861 million euros a year ago.
Net income rose to 554 million euros or 0.60 euros per share from 513 million euros or 0.54 euros per share last year.
Underlying income from continuing operations increased to 564 million euros or 0.62 euros per share from 557 million euros or 0.59 euros per share a year ago.
Sales for the quarter grew 7.1% to 23.276 billion euros from 21.728 billion euros in the previous year.
Looking ahead, the company has reaffirmed its full-year outlook including mid- to high-single-digit underlying EPS growth.
