Oregon-based Face Rock Creamery will be recalling two lots of Vampire Slayer Garlic Cheddar Curds due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
No illnesses have been reported to date from the lots mentioned in the latest recall. The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by the company.
The recalled product is in a clear a sealed plastic cup with a lid, 6oz. cups with UPC 8 51222 00528 7. The product carries Lot numbers 20250519VS01 and 20250519VS02 with a use-by date of August 29.
The impacted products were distributed in Trader Joe's locations in Northern California, Northern Nevada.
Earlier outbreaks of Listeria monocytogenes, probably from chicken Fettuccine Alfredo products prior to June 17, had claimed 3 lives and 17 people were stricken by illness.
In Mid-June, Brooklyn-based Hofood99 Inc. had recalled 200g packages of Enoki Mushroom, Bornstein Seafoods Inc. had recalled 44,550 Lbs. of Cooked & Peeled Ready-To-Eat Coldwater Shrimp Meat citing potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious illness, especially in young children, older adults, and people with weak immune systems.
Healthy people may have only mild symptoms like fever, headache, nausea, stomach pain, and diarrhea. However, in pregnant women, it can lead to miscarriage or stillbirth.
However, no illnesses have been reported to date.
The company advised consumers who have purchased the products not to consume them and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
