DR Power Recalls Lithium-ion Battery Packs For Risk Of Fire And Burn

DR Power Equipment, a unit of Wisconsin-based Generac Power Systems Inc., is recalling about 13,200 units of LiPRO rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs due to a risk of short-circuiting that can cause fires or burns, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall involves 62-volt 5.0 Ah LiPRO rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs used in DR Power brand battery-operated products such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and snow throwers.

The stand-alone LiPRO battery packs comes with model number 414240. Removable battery packs sold with various DR Power outdoor equipment models, including 524340, SB11022XEN, T4X3026XEN, T4X3062XENR, CE75021XEN0, and CE77021XEN0, are also included in the recall.

The recalled products were manufactured in China by Ningbo New Team Import & Export Co., Ltd., and imported by Generac Power.

The recalled battery packs and equipment were sold at home improvement and hardware stores across the U.S., as well as online at DRPower.com and CountryHomeProducts.com, from April 2018 to July 2024.

The product prices ranged from $300 to $700 for outdoor equipment with battery packs, and around $250 for battery packs sold separately.

The recall was initiated after the firm received two reports of incidents of fire and/or overheating. However, there have been no reported injuries.

The company warned consumers against disposing the recalled lithium-ion batteries or devices like other batteries - in regular trash, curbside recycling bins, or used battery drop-off boxes at retail or home improvement stores, as they pose a higher fire risk.

Instead, they can be taken to municipal household hazardous waste or HHW collection center for disposal.

In recent recalls, Anker Innovations in early June called back Anker PowerCore 10000 power banks with model number A1263 due to the lithium-ion battery in the power bank overheating, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.
