Limp Bizkit Bassist And Co-Founder Sam Rivers Dead At 48

Limp Bizkit's bassist and co-founder Sam Rivers has died.

The nu metal band announced that Rivers, 48, died on Saturday. They did not reveal the cause of his death.

"From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous," Limp Bizkit said in a statement posted on Instagram. "We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there."

The band added, "He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory."

Limp Bizkit's frontman and lead singer Fred Durst said in a video that he shed "gallons and gallons of tears" mouring Rivers' death.

He added, "He really did have an impact on the world and his music and his gift is the one that's going to keep on giving. I just love him so much."

Years ago, Rivers had revealed he was suffering from liver disease due to alcoholism. He left the band in 2015 and reunited in 2018 after a liver transplant.
