Lil Jon has announced that his memoir, "I Only Shout So You Can Hear Me," will be published on October 20 via Black Privilege Publishing.
The award-winning, legendary producer, global hype-master, and King of Crunk, Lil Jon looks back on the story of his life and his transformation into the high-volume showman behind a musical evolution.
As per the synopsis by the publisher, Lil Jon peels back the layers of his larger-than-life persona for the first time, revealing the circumstances that led to the creation of his world-famous persona. He recounts his early exposure to music and his rapid rise in the Atlanta music scene, highlighting his pivotal role in shaping the city's distinct hip-hop sound.
Beyond the creation of massive hits like "Get Low" and "Yeah!," Lil Jon opens up about the personal struggles that accompanied his fame, including creative burnout and the search for meaning beyond the stage. He explores his rediscovery of his passion for DJing and reinvents himself as a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur, only to face a heartbreak no parent should ever have to endure.
In the memoir, Lil Jon reflects on his work with Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz and his collaborations with Usher, Pitbull, Ice Cube, Ciara, Too $hort, and the Ying Yang Twins, among others.
"I've worked on a lot of different projects over the years, but this one right here made me dig deep and turn inward," Lil Jon said in a statement. "Y'all have heard my voice for over three decades, but here's a chance to read what I really have to say about it all, and catch a glimpse into the innermost circles of both my professional and personal worlds."
The 288-page hardcover is priced at $30.
"I Only Shout So You Can Hear Me" will be the second book by Lil Jon, after "Manifest Abundance: Affirmations for Personal Growth," released in 2024.
