Vince Staples recently released a new single, "Blackberry Marmalade," his first new solo song since the release of his 2024 album Dark Times.
Staples later revealed the song is the lead single of his upcoming album, Cry Baby, due out on June 5th.
"Blackberry Marmalade" arrived accompanied by a music video co-directed by Staples and Bradley J. Calder.
In the video filmed in the style of a first-person shooter game, the cameraperson lifts a gun in a parking lot and targets Staples, who tries and fails to disarm them, before entering a diner to stage a mass shooting. The visual ends with a quote from Martin Luther King Jr.: "So the question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of extremists we will be."
The beginning of the music video features a red hat with the word "Crybaby" resting on the dashboard of Staples' car. A date embroidered on its side seemingly indicated a future release date.
