On the anniversary of its original U.K. release, Snow Patrol announced a 20th anniversary reissue of their global phenomenon, Eyes Open.
Set for release on July 24, this special edition of the Northern Irish band's fourth studio album celebrates one of the most successful U.K. rock albums of all time with a comprehensive 36-track collection, compiled together for the first time.
Frontman Gary Lightbody says, "While we don't spend too much time looking back, and are currently writing the next album, it was a joy to revisit Eyes Open and take that particular trip down memory lane. While the album before this one, Final Straw, was our first successful record, it was Eyes Open that truly opened the whole world to us and took us to places we never dreamed we'd get to when we first started out. There are songs on this album that are part of our dna and to this day create moments in our live sets with tens of thousands of people singing along that send shivers down the spine."
Originally released in 2006 and produced by Jacknife Lee, Eyes Open was the best-selling U.K. album of its year and remains the 15th best-selling album of the 2000s.
The 20th Anniversary Edition CD and digital album significantly expands upon the original 11-track tracklist, collecting 36 tracks from the era together. The package includes seven B-sides -highlighted by the fan-favorite "Warmer Climate" - and the standalone single "Signal Fire" from the Spider-Man 3 soundtrack. These B-sides are available on all formats including vinyl.
On the CD and digital album, fans will also discover rare live and acoustic recordings drawn from historic performances at Berlin's Columbiahalle, Toronto's Opera House, and a stripped-back session for the MENCAP Little Noise Sessions at London's Union Chapel, alongside intriguing remixes by Freelance Hellraiser and Minotaur Shock.
Lightbody has penned exclusive new sleeve notes for the package, offering a personal retrospective on the album's meteoric impact.
The reissue will be available in multiple physical and digital formats, including a Gold 2LP, a Clear 2LP, and a Cream 2LP.
