During an appearance on NBC's "Today" show, country music duo Dan + Shay (Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney) announced they will release their sixth studio album, Young, on August 21.
"This is our most personal album yet," Smyers told Carson Daly. "We dug deep. It took us a couple years to work on this. We went left, we went right, we made a bunch of music. And there was some stuff we made, we had cold feet about it. It just didn't feel like us enough. And as we dug back in — I just feel like it feels authentic."
"We are beyond excited for our fans to hear it," they shared. "Every song is inspired by a true story, and gives a real-time snapshot of exactly where we are in our lives."
According to the duo's label Warner Records Nashville, Young centers on family, faith and following their dreams amid this prolific season of their 13-year career.
Dan + Shay released the upcoming album's first single "Say So" in April. The duo called the song "the most important release of our career so far."
The song, which aims to spotlight suicide prevention, was dedicated to the duo's late friend and mentor, music executive Ben Vaughn.
