Tracing UniQure's Tale Of Boom, Bust, And Rebound

The first week of March 2026 marked a melancholy chapter in uniQure N.V.'s (QURE) story as its stock plunged more than 40% to a low of $8.73 on a disappointing regulatory update on AMT-130, an investigational gene therapy for Huntington's disease.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a rare, fatal, neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects motor function and leads to behavioral symptoms and cognitive decline in young adults. Over time, it results in total physical and mental deterioration. Roughly 75,000 people in the U.S., Europe and the UK are affected by HD, making this one of the largest clinical unmet needs in the rare disease field.
