Yonkers has renamed a street in honor of the late rap icon DMX.
The city council voted to rename the intersection of School Street and Brooke Street - where the rapper, born Earl Simmons, was raised - as "Earl DMX Simmons Way."
A public hearing held on May 27 drew support from residents and local officials, and the measure was subsequently approved by the council without a single objection.
The renamed intersection sits near the Calcagno Homes on School Street, the public housing complex where the rapper was raised.
In January, 50 Cent announced "Look Thru My Eyes: Becoming DMX," a new podcast he's executive producing on the rapper's life and legacy. The series will be hosted by Jadakiss.
