Wednesday evening, Melville, New York-based Gentiva Health Sciences Inc. (GTIV), a provider of home health services said it has appointed Tony Strange to the post of President and Chief Operating Officer. Strange, who joined Gentiva in March 2006, will report to Gentiva's chairman and chief executive officer, Ron Malone.
Strange has been serving as the executive vice president and president of Gentiva Home Health. He directs the company's home healthcare, hospice, durable medical equipment, infusion and respiratory therapy operations.
Strange joined Gentiva, following its acquisition of Healthfield Group Inc., where he was serving as president and Chief Operating Officer, since 2001. Prior to that, he held a number of other management positions with Healthfield, since joining it in 1990 as General Manager. Earlier than that, Strange also served at several management positions with Glass Rock Home Healthcare.
Commenting on the appointment, Ron Malone, chairman and chief executive officer said, "Tony has brought a deep understanding of our businesses and new thinking to Gentiva. He's played a pivotal role in Gentiva's transformation over the past 21 months, including the very successful integration of Healthfield. We'll look for him to continue the pursuit of our growth strategies and extend our industry leadership as we serve the expanding population of older Americans who prefer to receive their healthcare at home."
GTIV closed Friday's regular trading session at $17.90, up $0.08 on a volume of 0.23 million shares, lower than the three month average volume of 0.27 million shares.
