RR Donnelley & Sons Co. (RRD), a provider of print and print-related services, said Wednesday it secured a multi-year contract worth $200 million from European Directories S.A. to produce nearly 350 telephone directory titles annually for pan-European distribution.
Commenting on the awarding of the contract, Stuart Ross, European Directories' Chief Financial Officer said that it was pleased to renew and expand its relationship with RR Donnelley.
During the course of the past decade RR Donnelley has consistently demonstrated an understanding of our business. Their scale and flexibility allow us to draw on them to produce a variety of formats and their responsiveness helps us to achieve our goals for speed-to-market, he added.
European Directories, which serves nearly 700,000 customers, is a geographically diversified directories group, with strong positions in several markets across Europe, including The Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Sweden, Gibraltar and Slovakia.
John Paloian, Chief Operating Officer, RR Donnelley said that the strategic development of its global platform enabled the company to deliver a broad and reliable set of benefits to customers worldwide.
In a regulatory filing, the Chicago, Illinois-based RR Donnelley & Sons reported the appointment of E.V. "Rick" Goings to the Board of Directors effective February 22, 2008, to serve until the next annual election of directors. He was also appointed to serve as a member of the Human Resources Committee of the Board.
RRD closed Tuesday's regular trading at $34.04, down $0.81 on a volume of 745K shares.
