The U.S. Army has authorized Global Linguist Solutions or GLS, a joint venture of DynCorp International (DCP) and McNeil Technologies, to resume performance on a contract for translation and interpretation services. The protest of the February 2008 award has been withdrawn.
The five-year contract has a maximum value of $4.6 billion. The U.S. Intelligence and Security Command or INSCOM awarded the contract to GLS to provide management of translation and interpretation services in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom or OIF.
Under the contract, GLS will provide foreign-language interpretation and translation services to the U.S. Army and other U.S. government agencies supporting OIF, including embedded Iraqi interpreters who operate with U.S. forces.
GLS will initially employ up to 7,000 locally hired translators and up to 1,500 U. S. citizens with security clearances who are native speakers of languages spoken in Iraq.
