Sandy Spring Bancorp Appoints Daniel Schrider President - Update

Thursday, Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc. (SASR), a holding company for Sandy Spring Bank, announced the appointment of Daniel Schrider as President of the holding company and the bank. Schrider will succeed Huter Hollar who plans to retire at the end of 2008.

The Olney, Maryland-based Sandy Spring Bancorp noted that Hollar would continue as the Chief Executive Officer of the holding company and the bank. The company expects Hollar to be re-elected as a director of Sandy Spring Bancorp in the upcoming annual meeting. Following the meeting, the board anticipates appointing Hollar as chairman, to succeed Drew stabler. Stabler has served as a director since 1986 and was elected chairman in 1997.

Hollar joined Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc., in 1990 as President and Chief Operating Officer, and was also first elected to the board at that time. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since January 1, 1994.

Schrider currently is also a director of the Maryland Bankers Association. He was hired by Sandy Spring in 1989 as part of its commercial banking division. Later, he was promoted as Senior Vice President and in 2003, was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer.

SASR is currently trading at $27.56, down $0.40 or 1.43%, on a volume of 20,510 shares.
