North African wing of the al-Qaeda, known as al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, on Friday claimed responsibility for the recent bomb blasts in Algeria that killed over ninety people.
The terrorist group claimed responsibility for the bomb attacks in an audiotape sent to al-Jazeera, the Arabic broadcaster. The group said in the audiotape that the blasts were in retaliation for the killing of twelve Muslim fighters in the city of Tizi Ouzou in the eastern Algeria.
Some 43 people were killed in a suicide bombing at a police academy in the town of Issers on Tuesday, while another 12 people were killed in two bombings at a hotel and a military headquarters in Bouira in eastern Algeria on Wednesday. The terror group also claimed responsibility for bombings at the end of last month and the start of this month, which killed over 40 people.
