Friday, the media reported that the West Bengal government discarded Trinamool Congress'-TM, demand for return of 300 acres of land from within the project area of the Tata Motors' plant at Singur.
After a meeting with the Government representatives and West Bengal Industrial Production Corporation-WBIPC Managing Director, the Trinamool Congress MLA, Rabindranath Bhattacharjee said that party's demand of 300 acres to unwilling farmers from within project site was discarded, said the report.
Bhattacharjee reportedly said that talks were held in a cordial atmosphere. This was the second meeting of the committee to have taken place. The four-member technical committee, which also includes local Trinamool leader Becharam Manna, discussed the results of inspection of the project. He said that both sides would meet again at the WBIDC office and hoped to submit a report in a week's time.
The four-member technical committee was formed last Sunday following discussions between the West Bengal government and Trinamool Congress presided over by Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi to break the deadlock in Singur, added the report.
