Hindujas, the UK-based NRI business conglomerate, have not ruled out the possibility of making passenger cars, according to media reports. "We are not averse (to making cars) and are open to investments in that sector", Hinduja Group chairman Srichand P Hinduja said to media. Currently, the group is stepping up its commercial vehicle manufacturing business in the country. The report said the group's flagship company Ashok Leyland has already announced its expansions plans to manufacture 1-lakh LCVs at a Greenfield facility being set up near Chennai.
Earlier, media reports said that the group plans to set up nuclear power plants in India after the government opens the sector to private players. The group had already concluded talks with overseas companies for technological and related support, it was said.
