VeriSign Selected to Provide Xerox With Managed Security Services - Update

Thursday, Internet protection services provider VeriSign Inc. (VRSN) said it was selected by business equipments supplier Xerox Corp. (XRX) to provide Managed Security Services or MSS. The service helps protect corporate networks from security threats.

According to the agreement, VeriSign MSS will provide a set of services to supervise Xerox's network security environment. The MSS package includes Firewall Monitoring, Network and Host-Based Intrusion Prevention Systems or IPS Management, and Log Management Services. VeriSign will also provide its iDefense Security Intelligence Services to identify, verify and track vulnerabilities, malicious code, and global threats facing its network.

The company noted that initial deployment called for VeriSign to monitor several hundred devices and log sources for Xerox globally.

Mike Denning, the senior vice president for VeriSign Enterprise Security Services stated, "We continue to invest in our processes, people and technology to deliver cost-effective and industry-leading solutions to help today's IT departments keep pace with ever-evolving security threats."

VRSN is currently trading down 86 cents or 3.39% at $25.44. XRX is trading down 28 cents or 2.48% at $11.02.
