Interserve PLC (IRV.L) said Monday that it been granted the £32 million contract to design and build additional prisoner accommodation comprising 232 cells and additional facilities at HMP Forest Bank for Agecroft Prison Management Limited.
HMP Forest Bank, which currently has 800 cells, is a Category B prison in Salford built by Interserve under a PFI contract in 1999 and operated by Kalyx. The new cells will be built
in two wings, together with additional education and prisoner support facilities, an extension to the main prison kitchen, improvements to the visitor reception centre and extended visits area plus further physical activity space for prisoners.
Construction will begin immediately, with the houseblock accommodation ready for occupation in November 2009, the company noted.
